Ministry of Communications and IT supports the expansion of broadband internet services in Azerbaijan
The Communications and IT Ministry in Azerbaijan supports the expansion of broadband Internet services in the country, the ministry reported.
According to the ministry, the issue was discussed at the Ministry with the participation of the heads of companies and enterprises of the telecommunications sector of the country.
The main topic of discussion was the issue of citizens' provision with broadband Internet and other modern means of communication.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov raised the question of ensuring the country's population with high-speed Internet services by 2015 and implementing large-scale studies in this direction.
Given the growing demand for broadband services, the head of the ministry emphasized the importance of involving the private sector to prepare and implement projects in this area.
Abbasov noted the importance of bringing fiber-optic cables to the villages and settlements located near the automatic exchange, their technical equipment, creation of high-speed multimedia networks, as well as bringing fiber-optic cable in villages and towns to provide the public with broadband services on a "fiber to every home" principle.
Referring to covering the needs of the population in the suburbs of Baku in broadband services, the importance of implementing measures for the implementation of new access technologies was stressed. Significant role in this, again, lies with the private sector, which will be provided necessary assistance to make level of development of broadband Internet in Azerbaijan reach the level of developed countries in this field.
