Azerbaijan starts mass production of LED’s
The high technology research center of the Ministry of Communications and IT is starting the mass production of LEDs, the center reported.
Previously, an experimental batch of LEDs has been successfully produced by the center. LED technologies will appear into mass production soon. An official ceremony is expected to be held with the participation of senior representatives of the Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Communications and IT.
LED technologies will be applied in street lighting in Baku by late 2012.The project is commercial in nature. After meeting the needs of the republic, it is planned to deliver technologies to international markets.
LED is energy efficient method. As opposed to ordinary incandescent bulbs, it saves energy consumption to 80 percent.
LED lighting systems are to be used for both decorative and general lighting. These are architectural buildings, streets, parks and highways. The center plans to produce infrared LEDs for their further use in fiber-optic communication lines.
