National Academy of Sciences starts installation of deep seismic stations in Caspian Sea
National Seismological Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan has begun to install the deep seismic stations in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the Center reported.
In the coming months, the stations will be involved in offshore fields of Umid, Bahar and Guneshli.The stations will allow to monitor the seismic zones. The head station is located in Baku, where by satellite in real time on a regular basis the information comes from the vibration sensors installed in seismically active spots of the country. Today, there are 31 seismic stations on the territory of Azerbaijan.
The system allows after processing data to obtain information about the exact place of the earthquake, its strength and time. The corporate network of NSC is serviced by Delta Telecom.Supplier of seismic equipment is an American company Kinemetrics.
