Address Registry Information System to be created in Azerbaijan by late August
The implementation of the project on the creation of the Address Registry Information System continues in Azerbaijan. The work on the project is expected to finish by late August. This information was provided to ICTnews by the State Committee on Property Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, the Address Registry Information System (ARIS) will be used for exchange of data between various databases, information retrieval systems and registers. Besides that, ARIS will promote efficiency of services such as the first medical care, emergency situation and etc. by promptly providing these services with necessary addresses.
ARIS will resolve many problems arising in the process of encoding streets and avenues and defining names of objects of the transport infrastructure. The system will employ Geographical Information Systems to determine entry coordinates for searching for required addresses.
The newly developed entry address concept is envisaged in the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s order dated February 10, 2012. According to this concept, addresses of objects are defined not as buildings, but as entries or doors to buildings. Individual address numbers are given to all main entries to buildings. Every entry is associated with the street from which persons enter the building.
The entry address concept, which meets European standards and advanced world practice, substantially reduces time spent searching for addresses. As the same time, all objects of the transport infrastructure are encoded according to the accepted regulations, and different indexes are entered into the database in line with the changes stipulated in the presidential order.
