Mobile phones to help Baku citizens to avoid traffic jams
The Intellectual Traffic Management Centre of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan is preparing special projects, which are aimed at solving traffic jam related problems. According to information provided by the centre, citizens of the capital will soon be provided with detailed information on these projects.
One of these projects envisages rendering special services via mobile phones. Head of the Public Relations Department of the Intellectual Traffic Management Centre Zulfiya Alizade said that the centre has already placed this service into public’s disposal.
"This service is available to both drivers and pedestrians. The centre has developed a special program software for mobile phones in order to provide convenience for citizen during movement of traffic. With the help of this software mobile phones will inform citizens about condition of roads, movement of passenger transport, phone owner’s location, construction works being carried out on roads, location of premises, streets, nearest bus stops etc. Citizens will be able do to download information from the electronic boards recently installed in the capital into their mobile phones.
The center provides citizens with this program software free of charge. All the citizen needs is to access the center’s web-site and download this software into his/her mobile phone. Presently, the software might be installed on "iPhone 3GS", "iPhone 4", "iPhone 4S", "iPhone 5", "iPod touch" (3rd generation), "iPod touch" (4th generation), "iPod touch" (5th generation ) "iPad iOS 4.3" and "iPhone5" devices."
