Elmir Valizadeh: “Today both public and private sectors have wide opportunities for application of new technological solutions”
The development of the Electronic Government has led to the expansion of application of new technological solutions, including mobile solutions. Today, both public and private sectors have wide opportunities for application of new technological solutions.
According to information provided by the “ICTnews” online news service, these words were pronounced by the deputy minister of communications and information technologies Elmir Valizadeh at the activity dedicated to “Win Phone -2” competition, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (MCIT), Microsoft Azerbaijan, Nokia and Mobitel companies, and was sponsored by Bakcell company.
At the activity the deputy minister said that since ICT is a priority sphere in Azerbaijan and 2013 was declared the year of ICT in the Republic, an appropriate Action Plan has been prepared in this regard. “There are wide opportunities for young people in Azerbaijan to carry out various activities in the ICT sphere.
The Information Technologies University, which was created under the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will start its work in 2013-2014 academic year.
This university will play a significant role in further developing the ICT sphere in Azerbaijan and providing this sphere with qualified workers.
The university, along will local teachers, will invite foreign experts to educate its students. At the same time, the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies which was created at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies (MCIT) in order to promote the development small and medium-sized businesses, will begin its work in this year. The regulations for activities carried out by MCIT’s Electronic Security Center have been approved. In general, a wide range of activities is expected to be carried out in the ICT sphere with involvement of foreign companies.”
The leader of the Azerbaijani team taking part in international informatics competitions, the associate professor at the Baku State University Ramin Mahmudzade also spoke at the activity. He said that young programmers still need to improve their professional skills.
“Statistics show that only 2 of 100 young people who chose programming as their profession can become an expert in this field. Programming is a field that requires creativity. So it is necessary for young specialist to strictly observe discipline in order to attain required results.”
Then, the manager of “Hackathon Azerbaijan” project Rashad Aliyev made a statement at the activity. He said that 11 of 81 contestants, who took part in the competition, created 16 applications. The first place in the competition was taken by Rufat Babakishiyev who created “Aztvgram” application. The activity concluded with rewording the winners of the competition.
Note that “Win Phone 2” competition, which was conducted within “Hackathon” project for authors of mobile applications, was organized by the “Ilk Addimlar” electronic education project. The competition was held with the aim of increasing the number of mobile applications for “Windows 8” platform and developing this sphere in Azerbaijan. The winners of the competition received valuable prizes.
“Hackathon” is a hacker neology that unites programmers for solving various problems, preparing projects and participating in competitions. The main goal of “Hackathon” is to create new programs, applications and tools by conducting competitions between programmers and hackers.
