Khan Shushinski virtual museum created in Baku


The presentation of the virtual museum of the immortal master Khan Shushinski was held at the International Mugam Centre in Baku. The museum was created thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies and organizational support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Khan Shushinski Fund and “Music World” magazine.

At the beginning of the presentation ceremony, the president of Khan Shushinski Fund, the daughter of the great master Bayimkhanim Verdiyeva-Chavanshirova expressed her satisfaction with the creation of a virtual museum dedicated to the life and creative activity of her father. Then, the chief editor and one of the founders of “Music World” magazine Doctor of Arts Tariel Mammadov provided the gathering with detailed information about the website, which is operating in 3 languages: Azerbaijani, English and Russian.

He took the guests to a virtual tour around the museum by familiarizing them with the life and creative activity of the grate mugam master, including photos, audio and video records, letters, telegrams and recollections about Khan Shushinski.

After that, the deputy minister of communications and information technologies Elmir Valizadeh shared with the guests his opinion about the website, which was developed in the context of ICT year.

He said that the virtual museum has an exclusive design and is rich with materials. “There is even an encyclopedia in this website. It is very commendable that the museum will operate in 3 languages. This will increase the number of users of the website. At the same time, this will make it possible for representatives of different countries to familiarize themselves with museum materials.” The son of the great muster Aslan Chavanshirov also expressed his gratification with the opening of the museum.

He said that the virtual museum will play important role in preserving Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. The rector of Azerbaijan National Conservatory Siyavush Karimi also spoke at the ceremony. He said that the creation of such museum in Azerbaijan is a big step towards the development of the national music.

“At the same time, the virtual museum will be very instrumental in propagation of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. The presentation ceremony concluded with a concert performance.
