The share of internet connections in the total number of households has increased from 1.2% to 50% over the past 5 years
Development of the national internet segment continues in Azerbaijan. According to the results of statistical analyses for 2012, the total of computer owners per household is 47%, and the share of people with internet access constitutes 64.4%.
As a result of the expansion of broadband internet services in the republic, the share of internet connections in the total number of households has increased from 1.2% to 50% over the past 5 years. This increase took place thanks to the improvement of the quality of the internet and efficient tariff policy.
In its annual report the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies indicated that computerization of the country, and the expansion and modernization of the internet infrastructure have had a very positive effect on the development of the internet in Azerbaijan.
The report says that in 2012 the level of computerization in the country grew by nearly 17% in comparison with the previous year. It also says that compared to 2011 the total number of computer users in the republic increased in 2012 from 48% to 56%. These results were achieved due to the successful implementation of various ICT projects and activities in the country.
