Google most 'compelling' Hulu bidder - Analyst
Among the most logical potential bidders for online video provider Hulu, the "most compelling" is Google Inc., BTIG Research analyst Richard Greenfield said in a research note on Thursday.
Greenfield, who said earlier this week that he believes it's a mistake for Hulu owners Walt Disney Co., News Corp. and Comcast Corp. to sell Hulu, told clients that the entity would be a "perfect fit" for Google, which has visions of a greater role in video beyond YouTube, Google TV and Motorola Mobility.
With its formidable cash resources and expertise in online advertising, Greenfield noted, Google would have the ability to keep Hulu a vital player in online video alongside Netflix Inc. and Amazon.com Inc.
Other potential bidders for Hulu include Yahoo Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., Apple Inc., AT&T Inc. and Microsoft Corp., among others, Greenfield said. News Corp. owns MarketWatch and Dow Jones & Co., publisher of this newswire.
