The Baku Telephone Communication Production Unit expands CDMA network
The Baku Telephone Communication Production Unit of the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry began expanding network of wireless CDMA standard, Production Unit informed.
“At present, the operator is working to install new CDMA base station in the Mardakan settlement," Production Unit said. In general, by late 2011 the operator plans to deploy additional three new base stations.
"The new stations will be deployed in Baku and suburbs of the capital, mainly in places with low signal recept. These territories will be defined based on our monitoring results".
The equipment supplier is the Chinese company Huawei Technologies - a global leader in providing solutions for next generation networks.
Jabrayilov said at present numbering capacity of the operator increased to 20,000 units, 8,500 of which are in operation.
Today, the Baku Telephone Network CDMA network covers the territory of Baku and Absheron Peninsula. Communication services in CDMA standard of the Baku Telephone Communications Production Unit are rendered on the "511" index.
Intra-republican roaming is used to render communication services to the Baku Telephone Communications Production Unit’s subscribers at a regional level, according to an agreement with Aztelekom Production Unit.
CDMA network is an alternative to broadband DSL, and allow easier access to information in remote regions, where the material costs for cable is unreasonably high.
