How to protect Facebook profile?

Hacking and theft of "Facebook" profiles, opening fake accounts in the name of certain persons and sharing images compromising honor and dignity of these persons, as well as using fake accounts for insulting people, are the main problems faced often by social network users. Experience shows that, in most cases, Facebook users encounter such problems due to their failure to comply with the rules for using social networks. Given the urgency of these problems, the Electronic Security Center of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies recommends internet users to observe the following safety rules for using Facebook social network.

-          Before creating an account on Facebook, become familiar with the terms and conditions of using Facebook social network;

-          Check the security settings: Fist of all, check the privacy and security settings of your Facebook account;

-           Protect your personal information: Exercise caution when placing personal information on your Facebook account. Allow only trusted persons to see your personal information.

-          - If someone starts insulting or threatening you on Facebook, block this user’s Facebook account using the appropriate network interface;

-          Strengthen the protection of your computer: Start the observance of safety rules by checking your computer. This is because if your computer has been infected with malware, passwords, e-mail and social network accounts become vulnerable to theft.

-          Pay special attention to incoming messages: Sometimes a user receives messages asking him to switch to a particular link or program. Such messages should be ignored and marked as spam.
Advertisement links can be deliberately created for infecting computers with malware.

-          Use complex passwords: Avoid using simple passwords (for example, 123456, and your name). A password must contain at least 8 characters, including upper and lowercase letters, numbers, symbols (such as +, @, #, $, etc.).

-          Do not accept friend requests from strangers: Some people can send a friendship request from an unknown account in order to steal your personal information.
