In Japan, the robot is issued a license coach in table tennis
The latest development of the Japanese company Omron, the robot FORPHEUS, entered the Guinness Book of records as the world’s first Android that can act as a mentor of the game of table tennis.
Visually FORPHEUS looks like the locking mechanism in the slot machines. The robot stands on two «feet» that are attached to the tennis table. Moreover, it has a «hand», and places a racket.
Due to the presence of sensors and cameras, the leading survey with a frequency of 80 frames per second, clearly the robot calculates the trajectory and speed of flight of a ball for ping-pong and helpful substitutes racket.
The feature blow of the robot is such that the person successfully fights off giving him the ball. So FORPHEUS perfectly copes with function of a tennis coach for «dummies», allowing them to quickly move to a new, more serious level of play.
The inventors first showed it to the public in 2015 for the exhibition of the latest technologies in Tokyo, one of my tasks I see the need to use robotics not only in industry but also in the most mundane aspects of life.
Currently, Omron working on an improved model FORPHEUS, which will be more widely used artificial intelligence technology.
