More than 400 malicious apps infiltrate Google Play
Despite the fact that the leadership of Google is seriously worried about the cleaning of app store Google Play and removed from it a variety of potentially dangerous and malicious applications, analysts still find a number of programs that can have adverse impact on the smartphone or tablet. In particular, the firm TrendLabs have counted nearly 400 of these applications, while analysts were looking for only very specific malicious objects, for example, the program of DressCode. He’s not just hiding dangerous code, but also disguises it. The latter, in turn, activates the downloading of the virus from the network directly after installing the application on the smartphone. As a rule, then attackers have access to all information on the smartphone.
Special attention in his report, TrendLabs has paid the fashion of Grand Theft Auto V for the game Minecraft: Pocket Edition, which has been downloaded over 500 thousand times. After downloading and installing the mod was connected to the attackers ‘ server. Due to this, the crooks can remotely connect to your smartphone and turn it into an access point for remote attacks on wireless networks and devices. Fortunately, Google has already confirmed an active investigation into this matter and the early removal of such objects from an assortment of Google Play.
Earlier this year, another firm involved in cybersecurity, counted in the store 350 of dangerous objects. In total, according to experts at TrendLabs, in Google Play can contain more than 3 thousand viral applications. Hackers have found a way to bypass the radar antivirus built-in to the store, and, despite all the efforts Google continues to download malware.
