President Ilham Aliyev receives a delegation led by Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Iran
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the Minister of Information and Communications Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Mahmoud Vaezi.
During the meeting, the Head of State stressed that 2016 holds a special place in the history of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. Referring to the meetings held this year, Ilham Aliyev noted that he had held a very productive meeting with President of Iran Hassan Rouhani.
President further said that important documents had been signed this year between the two countries and the implementation of these documents had already begun.
The Head of State expressed confidence in further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries. He said that the joint implementation of projects will continue in 2017 and that the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission had contributed significantly to the expansion of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.
Describing the launch of Nakhchivan-Tabriz-Tehran-Mashhad international passenger train, which is expected to take place on December 29, as a landmark event, the President wished the railway services of the two countries success in their future activities.
Minister of Information and Communications Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Vaezi, in turn, congratulated the President on his birthday. At the same time, he expressed his best wishes to the President Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijani people on the occasion of the New Year. Mahmoud Vaezi also conveyed the greetings of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the Head of State.
He said that the President of Iran had already given the relevant orders for the fulfilment of the recommendations made by the President Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission and for the preparation of a road map for the development of relations between the two countries in 2017.
It was noted at the meeting that the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran in various fields, including trade exchange, investment, transport and agriculture, were successfully developing. The sides stressed the importance of expanding the cooperation between the regions of two countries and hailed the successful ongoing construction of a car factory in Neftchala and the ground-breaking ceremony of a joint pharmaceutical production plant to be held soon in Pirallahi.
The sides stressed the importance of the Azerbaijani-Iranian business forum to be held in Nakhchivan. It was noted that the forum would contribute to the further expansion of economic and trade relations between the two countries.
The Head of State expressed his gratitude for the greetings of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and asked to convey his greetings to the President of Iran.
