Police robot makes China debut

China’s first police robot completed its first official patrol of a railway station in the central Chinese province Henan earlier this week.

The all-weather autonomous police robot was spotted patrolling the busy waiting room at Zhengzhou East Railway Station on February 15, reported CCTV news.

According to reports, its systems do not require any human control for it to move and can interact with passengers to answer questions.

Other features include facial recognition to spot wanted criminals and fugitives among crowds, aiding police in arrests.

In addition, it can monitor air quality and the ambient temperature, as well as offer early detection of fire and other security risks.

Liu Shubin, director of the railway station, told Chinese media that the police robot will be tested for a week and be mainly used at night.
