Neftchala communication joins Trans-Asia-Europe fiber-optic cable highway

Azerbaijani segment of Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE) fiber-optic cable highway continues to expand. “Aztelekom” PA told that Neftchala communication is planned to be connected to TAE fiber-optic cable highway in Salyan direction.

Certain measures have already been implemented in this direction. Within this project all the villages, located in Salyan-Neftchala direction, will be directly linked to this cable highway, which will provide them with faster and more qualitative communication.

As we know on October 21, 1999 Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey signed a trilateral protocol for execution of this Grand Project.

On December 1 of the same year construction of Azerbaijani segment of TAE fiber-optic cable highway started.

Construction of the overland part of Azerbaijani segment of TAE cable highway was completed in 2001, and in the same year communication channels between Baku and Tbilisi were switched to TAE fiber-optic cable highway.
