Interpol found about 9 thousand malicious servers in Southeast Asia

Experts of Interpol as part of operation to combat cybercrime was discovered about nine thousand servers with malware and hundreds of websites with illegal content in the countries of South-East Asia, reported on the organization’s website.
 
It is reported that the discovered servers were programs, aimed at undermining the activities of financial institutions, «ransomware» (a malicious hacker programs that block user access to the data on his computere and demand a ransom for unlocking), launching DDoS attacks and sending spam. Also managed to find about 270 websites that contain malicious codes and some of these sites were the government and could contain personal information of citizens.
 
According to information published on the website of Interpol, the operation was conducted jointly with investigators of the seven countries of South-East Asia: Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Experts from China have also assisted the investigation.
 
«The operation helped the participants to identify and establish the origin of cybercrime, which are not suppressed in these countries», — said the Chairman of the Eurasian working group on cybercrime Francis Chan.
