Toshiba introduced a laptop that runs 13 hours without recharging

Toshiba announced their Tecra X40 notebook, which is based on the 7th generation of Intel Core processors and a 14-inch 1920 x 1080 multi-touch display. The Tecra X40 is supposed to offer 13 hours of battery life. In addition to the standard configurations, Toshiba will also offer a wide variety of build-to-order options.

The Tecra X40 is a 14-inch notebook which comes with a FullHD touch screen panel and narrow bezels. Size wise, it is 16.9 mm thin and it weights 1.15 Kg. Thanks to the almost borderless display and to the low weight, this makes it’s ultra portable and basically the size of your usual 13-inch notebook. The body of the Tecra X40 is made from magnesium with shock-absorbing reinforcement. Furthermore all the new X40 are Mil-STD-810G certified for extreme temperatures, vibration, shock, humidity, dust and solar radiation.

The new models are most likely going to feature Kaby Lake-U CPUs like for instance the Intel Core i5-U and i7-U. In addition, despite it's still not clear which kind of model, Toshiba offers a high-capacity solid state drive. The battery life should allow this notebook to stay away from a power source for more than 13 hours.

The Tecra X40 comes with a starting price point of $1'329.99 US. The company has also announced several accessories like the Thunderbolt 3 Dock ($299.99 dollar) and multiple USB-C Adapters ($44.99 to $89.99 dollar).
