Reminder on cancellation of summer time in the territory of Azerbaijan
As it is known, Decree No.21 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated March 17, 1997 “On the application of daylight saving time in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was annulled by Decree No.131 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated March 17, 2016.
For this reason, daylight saving time has not been implemented in the country since March 2016.
The world’s single time zones database is regulated by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). This source is a major reference point for all software and hardware manufacturers, and the adjustments made there are strictly adhered to.
On March 23, 2016, following the appeals from our country, including those made by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, information on Azerbaijan’s time zone was indicated correctly in the world’s single time zones database and it was noted that Azerbaijan refused to switch to summer time.
At present, the main produces of software, computers, servers, mobile phones, etc. take into account this nuance.
If the problem still occurs, you should update the software. Also, the problem can be solved by disabling “automatic” mode from the “date and time” menu.
Note that due to the fact that Azerbaijan did not switch to summer time in 2017, clocks will not be turned back an hour.
