Azermarka LLC issues a postage stamp dedicated to 100th anniversary of Tofig Guliyev
Azermarka LLC of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies has issued a postage stamp on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of People's Artist of Azerbaijan, composer and public figure Tofig Guliyev.
The 40 x 28 mm high quality postage stamp was printed at Belarusian Printing House in the Republic of Belarus and released in an edition of 200,000 copies.
Tofig Guliyev was born on 7 November 1917 in Baku to the family of engineer-economist Alakbar Guliyev. He was one of the founders of Azerbaijani jazz and pop music and the author of many symphonic works, cantatas, and piano works.
Tofig Guliyev was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker and People's Artist of Azerbaijan. He was also conferred the Order of Independence by National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Tofig Guliyev, who died on 4 October 2000.
One of the streets in Baku and musical school No 12 were named after the composer.
