VKontakte launched voice and video calls with end-to-end encryption
To activate the feature, one of your friends should call you.
In applications “VKontakte” for iOS and Android there was a function of voice and video calls. As specified in the social network, the calls are protected by end-to-end encryption, in which keys are known only to communicating users.
With end-to-end encryption, it is not possible to transfer “any keys” and access to information by third parties “is technically impossible,” VKontakte was assured.
The first time activation of the function will be transmitted by a call from someone who has already been activated.
This feature is only available for users of the latest versions of applications. The rest will be notified when an incoming call is attempted.
To make a call, you need to click the call button in the upper right corner of the dialog. On the video, you can switch during a conversation. Also, the user of “VKontakte” has the opportunity to choose the circle of those who can call him.
For the first time, VKontakte described its intention to introduce end-to-end encryption of voice calls in its application on April 27, after Roskomnadzor blocked its own IP-addresses.
In March 2017 Telegram made a similar viral action from the launch of the call function: in order to activate the function, it was necessary to update to the latest version of the application and ask a friend to call.
