Azerbaijan converts regional educational institutions’ database into electronic format


Database of the Azerbaijani regional educational institutions are converted into electronic format for further integration into a single educational network, Ismayil Sadigov, Director of the Department of Education Management Information Systems, told.

Sadigov said work is currently underway to establish an electronic database of out-of-school educational institutions and at present, with the exception of Baku's educational institutions database contains data on out-of-school educational institutions of 15 regions of the country.

"An electronic database of pre-school educational institutions is also being formed, and that category already contains data on 30 regions.

The work is underway in this direction and as is expected a database of this category will be formed by January 2012," Sadigov said. He said database for secondary schools will be formed by Oct.1.

The Training Information Management System (TIMS) allows schools to computerize all database system. The database allows for a direct flow of information from schools to the Education Ministry. There are 1.5 million pupils and 168,000 employees in Azerbaijan's secondary schools system.
