Razer Blade (2018) launched as the world’s smallest 15.6-inch gaming laptop
Razer, the company behind popular gaming laptops, stakes claim for the world’s smallest gaming laptop with a 15.6-inch display. The new Razer Blade (2018) announced today is 0.66-inches thin and comes with a minimal footprint for mobile gaming experience. The laptop also gets faster Intel processors and NVIDIA Max-Q design for graphics performance.
The Razer Blade (2018) features a 15.6-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 144Hz refresh rate. There is also an option to upgrade to a 4K panel with touch functionality and support for 100 percent Adobe RGB color. The display comes with thin 4.9mm bezels around it, but retains the web camera at the top of the screen.
The new Razer Blade (2018) is CNC milled from a single piece of aluminum and comes in a scratch resistant anodized black finish. The gaming laptop also utilizes Razer-designed vapor chamber for cooling instead of the traditional heat pipes found in most gaming laptops. “Beyond cooling the CPU and GPU, the vacuum-sealed vaporized liquid helps dissipate the heat generated from other components within the laptop,” Razer said in a release.
Despite its thin form factor, the new Razer Blade (2018) will be no slouch in terms of performance. The 15.6-inch gaming laptop is powered by the 8th generation Intel Core i7-8750H CPU, which is a hexa-core processor with 12 threads of computing power with base clock frequency of 2.2GHz and turbo boost up to 4.1GHz. The laptop is based on NVIDIA’s Max-Q Design which allows for thinner form factor with option to choose between GeForce GTX 1060 or 1070 GPU.
The new Razer Blade (2018) comes with 16GB DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB PCIe SSD storage. Customers can configure it with up to 32GB RAM and maximum storage of 2TB. It runs Windows 10 and supports WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. It includes one Thunderbolt 3 port, three USB 3.1 port and Mini Display Port 1.4. The laptop relies on Razer’s Chroma keyboard with anti-ghosting feature.
The laptop comes with front firing stereo speakers, TPM security chip embedded and 80Wh recharge battery with NVIDIA Optimus support. The Full HD model weighs around 2.07kg while the 4K model weighs 2.15kg. The laptop starts $1,899 (around Rs 1,30,000) and is shipping starting today. The laptop will be available from select retailers in the US, Canada, France, the UK, Germany and China.
