Lenovo Launches First Smartphone With 12GB Of RAM
There aren’t a lot of mainstream devices that feature 10GB of RAM. Some Chinese manufacturers have made devices with this much memory, though, so it’s not a new milestone for smartphones. Lenovo has raised the bar today by announcing the first smartphone with a whopping 12GB of RAM. The handset is actually a variant of the Z5 Pro that the company launched last month.
The Lenovo Z5 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 platform and will offer 12GB of RAM. That’s a new milestone for smartphones. Customers will be able to purchase it with up to 512GB of onboard storage.
Like the Z5 Pro launched last month, the new Z5 Pro GT is an all-screen slider phone. It doesn’t have a notch or a display hole for the front camera. All of those components are integrated into a panel that slides up as and when required. The earpiece is actually located between the front cameras so the screen has to slide down for phone calls.
Lenovo’s new handset also has some cosmetic changes. There’s a red metallic frame around the display as well as rid rims around the rear cameras. There’s even a carbon fiber pattern underneath the rear glass.
All of the other specs remain the same. It has a 6.39 inch 2,340 x 1,080 OLED display, 16 megapixel + 8 megapixel front cameras, 16 megapixel + 24 megapixel rear cameras, NFC, and a 3,350mAh battery.
Lenovo will begin taking pre-orders for the Z5 Pro GT starting January 15th, 2019. The price starts at 2,698 yuan or around $390.
