Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov chairs Cabinet meeting
On December 27, a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov in accordance with the "Work Plan of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018".
The agenda of the meeting included two issues – "Discussion on the draft "Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2024 " and "Report on the status of the application of international standards of financial reports in agencies of social importance."
Stressing that the foundation of the modern Azerbaijan state, which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev has been further strengthened over 15 years thanks to the pragmatic policy pursued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov noted that Azerbaijan has gone a long way of development over the past period. The Prime Minister recalled that relying on the strategic course set by the country’s leader, adequate steps have been taken to ensure sustainable development, macroeconomic stability was achieved with the implementation of comprehensive reforms, business and investment environment has improved significantly, entrepreneurship has begun to develop, non-oil exports have increased. Bringing to the attention that all these achievements have influenced the improvement of the social welfare of the population, Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov noted that sound policies, systemic measures carried out in line with the new economic conditions in Azerbaijan, which is the most developed country in the region, create an opportunity to neutralize global risks.
Expressing confidence that the implementation of social programs in our country will also continue successfully in the upcoming new year, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of further intensifying work on projects that meet contemporary challenges, in particular the preparation of a cybersecurity strategy submitted for discussion in accordance with international standards. Novruz Mammadov said that the growth of cybercrime, which is a serious threat to the present-day world, the fact that according to the UN report every year over 1.5 million people become victims of crimes committed through the Internet, necessitate improving public administration systems, banks, transport, national security et al., expanding cyber defense measures.
Then Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade and Finance Minister Samir Sharifov made reports on the issues of the agenda.
Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov, Chairman of the Central Bank Elman Rustamov, Head of the State Security Service Madat Guliyev, Acting Chairman of the Financial Markets Supervision Chamber Ibrahim Alyshov and others took part in the discussions on both issues.
After extensive exchange of views, it was decided that, taking into account the report of Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade on the agreed-on project "Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2014" will be submitted for approval to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
And on the second issue, it was decided that, taking into account the report of Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov, the Ministry of Finance together with the relevant organizations of the Financial Markets Supervision Chamber to develop a draft regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan reflecting the necessary instructions in connection with issues arising from the Report.
Summing up the meeting, Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov gave appropriate instructions to the heads of relevant agencies in connection with the execution of tasks, expressed sincere congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the upcoming significant holidays - the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and New Year.
