Azercell: Launching 3G by all operators to increase number of DATA-service users in Azerbaijan
After Azercell and Bakcell receive a license to launch 3G, a significant part of mobile subscribers will be able to take advantage of 3G network, Azercell Telekom LLC President Ali Agan told.
According to Agan, the new communication standard is oriented, primarily, to transfer data at high speeds, which will provide users with even more rapid access to information.
Agan said the network of Azercell is fully prepared to provide telecommunications services in the 3G standard and in this matter, the company is waiting for a final decision of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the country.
"August 27 the State Radio Frequencies Department sent a message to the Ministry that the 3G frequencies that are introduced by the B&BTV Company should be transferred to the Azercell Company within two months.
Two months have expired on Oct. 27, but the frequencies are still at the disposal of B&BTV. But the words sounded today by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Iltimas Mammadov that the question of licensing two other operators will be resolved by the end of this week are encouraging us," said Agan.
According to him, besides having a license, an important aspect is when 3G services will be available for final users. Obtaining a license does not tell that they will be presented soon.
"I hope that there will not be delays in this issue, and we will soon launch commercial operation of the network. We are going to make 3G services available in all regions of Azerbaijan, and I think after we launch the 3G network, we gradually move to 4G network," said Agan.
