Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) With LTE Connectivity, S Pen Support Launched
Samsung has been quietly refreshing some of its tablets over the last few weeks. Last month, the company announced the Galaxy Tab S5e and the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019). This week, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019), which is essentially a smaller version of the budget Galaxy Tab A 10.1. It gets a similar design language, but the USP is it comes with S Pen support.
The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) sports an 8-inch LCD display with a 1920x1200 resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7904 chipset, which is the same SoC inside the 10.1 Galaxy Tab A model. This is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card.
The new Galaxy Tab A 8.0 houses a 4,200mAh battery, measures 201.5 x 122.4 x 8.9 mm and weighs 325 grams. The primary camera gets an 8-megapixel sensor with autofocus, and a 5MP selfie camera. The tablet comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB 2.0. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC and GPS.
The highlight of the Android tablet is that it supports Samsung's S Pen. The S Pen looks similar to the Galaxy Note 8's S Pen rather than the redesigned S Pen that was launched last year with the Galaxy Note 9. This means the S Pen for the Tab A 8.0 (2019) does not get its own Bluetooth LE that could allow you to work with the stylus like a remote for taking pictures or for powerpoint presentations.
The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) is yet to get an official pricing from Samsung, but you can expect to be cheaper than the Galaxy A 10.1 (2019) that costs 210 Euros. As for the launch markets, it seems the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 will be available in the UK, New Zealand Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore and Vietnam.
