The mobile operator Azerfon and JSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) create an alliance.At a press conference organized at the exhibition BakuTel-2011, Chief Executive Officer of Azerfon Juergen Pitts told reporters that thanks to an agreement reached with the Swiss OnAir (System for Mobile Communications) Azerfon will provide communications services to aircraft belonging to AZAL.
"Anywhere in the world passengers of AZAL and Azerfon subscribers will be able to make calls, send / receive SMS messages and browse the Internet from their mobile phones via 3G-network ", said J. Pitts. He explained that mobile phones will be used even at 10,000 feet, "but during takeoff and landing the devices will be disabled because their use may hinder the operation of aviation systems”.
