Today, in Baku the 2-day international conference titled "The competence of teachers in the society based on knowledge: politics, pedagogy and social skills", which is organized jointly by the Communication and IT Ministry, the Education Ministry of Azerbaijan Republic and UNESCO, has started its work.
Director of UNESCO’s ICT in Education Institute, Denver Badarch, director of National Center for Distant Education, chairman of administration board of UNESCO’s ICT in Education Institute Bernard Cornu, other representatives of UNESCO, deputy minister of The Communication and IT Ministry Elmir Valizade, deputy minister of Education Ministry Gulu Novruzov, director of AMEA Information Tecnologies Institute Rasim Aliguliyev and experts in electronic education from foreign countries took part in this conference.
In the opening speech, the deputy minister of the Education Ministry Gulu Novruzov said that the main goal the conference was the exchange of views on strategies, directions and experiences connected with professional development of teachers in the spheres of ICT, pedagogies and social experience.
Then, he informed the conference about the works implemented within “The State Program on informatization of Education System of Azerbaijan Republic”, “Application of ICT in Education” training of teachers and “Support Your Colleague” Program.
Speaking at the conference about measures implemented to develop information and communication technologies, the deputy minister of the Communication and IT Ministry, Elmir Valizade, noted progresses achieved in application of ICT in the education sphere.
He said that The State Program, which was adopted for further development of this sphere, will bring higher results. The chairman of administration board of UNESCO’s ICT in Education Institute Bernard Cornu gave high assessment to the initiatives taken in our country to develop the education sphere.
Over 20 foreign experts and 60 local specialists are participating in the conference. The conference will continue in form of meetings and discussions at the Teachers Training University.
The results of the Project, implemented jointly by UNESCOS’s “Development of Professional Education”, The Education Ministry and Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will be presented to the conference.
