Samsung Exynos 850 launched: A powerful chip for cheap smartphones

After announcing the Exynos 880 chip last week, Samsung has now expanded its chip portfolio by introducing another Exynos 850 chip. The latest Samsung Exynos 850 is a startup chip based on its specifications.

The new Exynos 850 is an 8nm fabricated chipset consisting of an Octa-core CPU made of ARM Cortex-A55 cores that has a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz. Meanwhile, for its graphics performance, the ARM Mali-G52 GPU has been installed inside this chipset.

As for hardware compatibility, this chipset can support FullHD + screen (2,520 x 1,080 pixels), LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. Talking about the camera, the Exynos 850 is claimed to be able to support up to 16MP + 5MP for multiple camera settings or 21.7MP for a single camera.

Other support is FullHD 60fps video recording capability and video codecs such as HEVC (H.265), H.264 and VP8. Finally, for connectivity, this chipset supports Cat.7 LTE DL (downlink), Cat.13 UL (uplink), WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, and GNS such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo.

Reportedly, the Exynos 850 chipset with 8nm fabrication is being mass-produced. Thus, we hope that there will be a lot of budget smartphones that will circulate in the market with the Exynos 850 chipset. It is also possible, Samsung will also complete the Galaxy A and M series with the newest chipset.
