Digital TV to cover 70-80% of Azerbaijan by year end
The digital television broadcasting will be applied in 70-80% of Azerbaijani territory till the end of this year.The statement came from Technical Director 'Teleradio' Production Association of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Mikayil Abbasov.
According to him, the new 73m TV tower and technical building is being constructed in Guba region for securing the country’s northern region with digital TV and more strengthening the analog broadcasting. The new tower will be opened till the end of this year.
Abbasov said that it will be possible to apply the digital broadcasting in 12-15 regions, setting the digital television broadcasters in Agsu TV station. The digital TV broadcasting through the intermediary of TV stations in Ganja, Lerik, Shirvan, covers the abovementioned regions and surrounding territories. The digital TV broadcasting will start in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic till November 2011. Consequently 70-80% of Azerbaijani territory will be surrounded by digital broadcasting.
According to technical director, the technical indicators of TV tower in Baku are enough for digital broadcasting: 'there is no need to build the additional TV tower in Baku.'
Abbasov noted that according to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers on apply of digital television broadcasting in the republic, the first part of works on digital broadcast ion in the country will be finished next year. In 2013, the digital broadcasting will be implemented in 99% of Azerbaijani territory
