Attention! Phishing attacks are carried out against Azerbaijani mail.ru e-mail service users
The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies has recorded mass phishing attacks carried out by Armenia against Azerbaijani users of mail.ru e-mail service. Investigation conducted by the Electronic Security Service shows that the goal of these phishing attacks is to create fear and anxiety among the population by spreading misinformation, as well as infecting users’ devices with malware.
One of the fake emails says that allegedly the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan has published a list of those killed in the battle and it is suggested that they follow the link to download the file. The file contains malware and infects the device of the user who gets access to the link and downloads the data. Another email contains false information about the frontline areas that does not correspond to the current situation and reality.
They are also trying to gather information about the current situation in Azerbaijan by writing to Azerbaijani users from fake accounts on various social networks.
The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies recommends that mail.ru e-mail service users be more vigilant, do not click on links sent by strangers or do not download files.
