Sony launches $ 5000 holographic 3D screen
Sony has released the Spatial Reality Display, a holographic display that allows you to view 3D objects without the need to wear 3D glasses or an AR headset. For a novelty they ask for $ 5,000, or about 390 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate.
The device is designed for a very narrow audience, primarily for specialists in the field of computer graphics and special effects. By tracking the direction of the artist’s gaze, the SR-display can immediately visualize the result of the work in front of him. In addition, the new Sonу is equipped with sensors that determine the position of the viewing point and adjust the image to the desired angle in a millisecond.
The company first showed the SR display at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, writes TechCrunch. The screen features a 15.6-inch 4K LCD and requires a high-performance computer.
The holographic screen is already in use by some companies. For example, it was hired by Sony Pictures to pre-render scenes during the filming of the movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife (“Ghostbusters: Heirs”). Also, the SR-display was used by the designers of the Volkswagen auto concern.
