Azerbaijan creates regional innovation zone

Azerbaijan will approve the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's proposals in the near future to create a regional innovation zone in the country, Deputy Communications and IT Minister Elmir Velizade told.

He said that proposals submitted to the government, include special mechanisms to encourage the development of ICT sector in general and to promote entrepreneurship in this area. "The document is expected to be adopted in the near future," he said.

The creation of a regional innovation zone is defined as a priority for IT industry development.There are five key directions of the project that will play an important role in its implementation.

They include creating a data centre for information resources and rendering information services, developing human resources and small and medium-sized businesses, attracting investments and developing our export capacity.
