Attention citizens: phishing campaigns are conducted via WhatsApp
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies warns citizens of phishing campaigns conducted via WhatsApp on behalf of well-known companies. Thus, in order to lure users, cyber fraudsters send spam messages on behalf of Adidas and other well-known companies via WhatsApp, claiming that free products are distributed on the occasion of the anniversary of these companies.
To receive a gift, the user is offered to follow the link and fill out a questionnaire form. Trusting the information, the user follows the link, after which he is redirected to a fake page similar to the company’s official page.
Along with this, after entering mobile phone number, the user is required to forward this message to 20 WhatsApp users from the contact list.
The main objective of cyber fraudsters is to make money in an easy way by collecting fake ad views, to force users to download third-party apps and to seize their personal data.
The best way to protect yourself from such cyberattacks is to be suspicious of every message you receive, not to succumb to deception, not to respond to tempting offers immediately and verify the accuracy of information using various communication tools.
If citizens receive such information on behalf of any company, agency or organization, we are asking them to verify the accuracy of the information first by contacting the company or visiting its official website on a new page opened in a web browser.
Also, when you faced any cyber incident or need to obtain methodological support, please contact the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies via the website
