Azerpost LLC became a member of the European Postal Union
Azerpost LLC under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies became a member of the European Postal Union. General Director of Azerpost LLC Emin Efendiyev spoke at the online meeting organized on this occasion.
He informed the conference participants that Azerpost LLC carries out direct international mail exchange with roughly 80 countries of the world, during its activity it has achieved a number of successes, including nine times in a row it was awarded the Gold Level Certificate in the field of EMS.
Emin Efendiyev also stressed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerpost carries out its activities in the international sphere in accordance with the requirements and recommendations of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), and within the country – the UPU, as well as the Government of Azerbaijan.
Speaking about the high-level organization of mail exchange in the country, Efendiyev also touched upon the Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan. He noted that as a result of the occupation of our lands by the enemy for about 30 years, Azerpost could not fully carry out its mail exchange across the country. The victorious Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev has already liberated our lands from occupation. According to him, new post offices will start functioning in these territories in the near future.
The Director General stated that although Azerpost LLC has not been a member of the European Postal Union in the past, it has repeatedly received invitations to the meetings of this organization and actively participated in its work as an observer.
In conclusion, a secret ballot was held among 53 member states of the European Postal Union for the accession of Azerbaijan to this organization, as a result of which Azerpost LLC became a member of the European Postal Union.
