Cyber attacks on Azerbaijani sites were from Iran and Netherlands - minister
Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has sent a letter to his Iranian counterpart.Ali Abbasov issues a statement concerning cyber attacks on 25 Internet sites of Azerbaijan occurred on January 16.
Abbasov said cyber attacks have been observed in recent years mostly in the developed countries and it is related to the development of global network.
'Such cases are recorded in our region too, as well as in Iran, Israel and Saudi Arabia'.
Minister Abbasov said the results of cyber attacks occurred on January 16 were eliminated in two hours. The sites in servers of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies and the Special State Protection Service were attacked by the hackers.
Minister said he sent a letter to his Iranian counterpart.'I requested the Iranian minister to identify exact addresses where cyber attacks were made from. Usually cyber attacks are made from the transit countries.
I believe these hacking actions are not related to the Iran’s government and any government institutions of this country. On January 17, 35 sites of Iran and on January 19, 315 sites of Armenia were targeted by the hackers.
Azerbaijan should be more attentive in these issues and should strengthen international cooperation not only with the regional, but all countries. We are ready to assist Iran in this issue if it needs'.
Abbasov said due to free opening of Internet sites in Azerbaijan, there are some network gaps, which were filled by unprofessional sites.
'We decide to take comprehensive measures in this field, which will include the preparation of legal documents, technical and organizational measures. The government sites will have special certificates'.
