Author Rights Agency unveils procedure of electronic presentation of writings for registrations

The Author Rights Agency has already launched a new service for electronic registration of writings and other copyright objects. This online registration services allows authors (right owners) to save their time they used to spend on registering their writings.

Now all they need to do is access the Author Rights Agency’s web-site via their e-mails and register their writings. The published or unpublished writing can be registered only by its owner, who has exclusive right to the writing. According to information provided to ‘ICTnews’ by the Author Rights Agency, in case the writing has not been printed, it must be attached to the electronic application as a e-file with numbered pages. Copyright objects in book form (printed writings) must be attached to the e-application in ‘pdf.’, ‘doc.’ format. Copyright objects in form of picture, sculpture, graphics and architecture must be attached to the application in ‘cpg.’, ‘gif.’, ‘bmp.’, ‘tif.’, ‘pjx.’ formats. Musical compositions must be attached to the application in ‘mp3., ‘mp2.’, ‘wma.’, ‘wav.’, ‘flaj.’ audio formats. Other documents indicated on the application must also be submitted in digital format.

According to the procedure of registration of applications the state duty payment receipt must be sent by post. Internet users can find answers to all questions concerning the registration process on the ‘Copyright objects registration rules’ section of the agency’s website. Let’s note that registration of copyright objects is necessary for the following reasons: - Copy of writing is kept in archive as deposit material - If any arguments occur over the authorship date of registration of the writing can serve as a decisive evidence - In case of illegal usage of the writing (plagiarism) it is more easier to protect infringed copyrights
