Afghanistan to employ Azerbaijan’s experience in ICT sector


The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies has held a meeting with the Afghan delegating led by General Director of Administrative Reforms Secretariat of Afghanistan Seyid Zabiullah Savayz. During the meeting Deputy Minister of Communications and IT Iltimas Mammadov provided the guests with information about the activities implemented in the communication sphere in Azerbaijan.

He told the visitors that within a short period of time all residential areas in the country were provided with telephone communication.

‘After Azerbaijan gained independence for the second time, the communication system was fully reconstructed in the country. 3G technology has been introduced in Azerbaijan since 2009. Measures are being implemented to accelerate introduction of 4G technologies in the country. In his turn, Seyid Zabiullah Savayz said that Afghanistan intends to employ Azerbaijan’s successful experience in the ICT sector.

‘Afghan government officials are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan, because they want to increase their computer skills’, he said. In reply, I.Mammedov noted that Azerbaijan is ready to provide assistance in training Afghan personnel.

‘We can organize long term and short term courses for training your personnel. Besides that, Azerbaijani companies can provide Afghanistan with software products and computer equipment produced in Azerbaijan’, he said.  Seyd Zabiullah Savays, in turn, said that he will pass these proposals to the Afghanistan Government.
