Postal stamps dedicated to Azerbaijan-Poland diplomatic relations released


New postal stamps dedicated to Azerbaijan-Poland diplomatic relations has been released on the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies’ order.   According to information provided by chief editor of Azermarka company of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies Riad Alekberov, the stamps have been in circulation since October 29, 2012. He said that the new stamps have been issued as one block with two stamps.  

One stamp features an image of Uzun Hasan (Hasan bey Bayandur), the founder of Akkoyunlu State. The  other one – the king of Poland Yagello. 13,000 copies of the stamps were released into circulation.  The cost of each copy is 60 gapiks.

Let’s note that Azerbaijan as an independent state issued its first postal stamps in October 1919.  Azerbaijan released postal marks, which are considered to be one of the attributes of an independent state, with the aim of strengthening its authority.
