Azerbaijan to participate in Int’l Postal Union’s meeting

Chief Advisor of postal sector (AZERPOST) of Azerbaijan Nasir Hamidov is representing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies at the meeting of the Quality of Service Fund Board of Trustees at the International Bureau in Berne.

The meeting will discuss efforts to improve the quality of international postal services. The meeting will also discuss preliminary, interim and final reports, and other documents necessary for the implementation of the new projects.

The Board of Trustees, governed by the provisions of the Deed of Trust, is responsible for the Quality of Service Fund. Its role is to examine and approve projects submitted, check and evaluate the implementation and conduct of projects, and monitor the management and administration of the QSF secretariat. The Trustees are also responsible for the management of the business and affairs of the Trust, reporting to the Postal Operations Council.

The Board of Trustees has nine members elected by the Postal Operations Council for a renewable three-year term on the basis of geographical criteria and development levels: two members are elected from among the countries of Western Europe, two from Africa, one from Eastern Europe, two from the Western Hemisphere, and two from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. In each of the latter two regions, one member must come from an industrialized country and the other from a creditor country. One third of the membership is renewed each year. The Trustees meet a minimum of four times each year, at least once in each quarter. Every year, the Trustees elect a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman.
