National Center for Information Security to be opened in Azerbaijan in 2013


The National Center for Information Security will be created in Azerbaijan in 2013.The statement came from Minister of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov. 

"Special investments will be allocated for the implementation of the project which will turn Azerbaijan into a regional center of information security", the minister said.He also noted that the project involves US Symantec-the biggest producer on anti-virus and protective software.

The minister told earlier that Azerbaijan in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union develops global convention for information security.

ITU offers to introduce convention for the discussion of UN. Azerbaijan is the UN member, while in autumn of the last year the country was elected as nonpermanent member of the Security Council of this structure.
The ICT Development Fund will start functioning in Azerbaijan in 2013. It will be financed from the country’s budget, the minister said.

"Preferential loans and grants for business development, as well as introduction of competitive production on the international markets will be provided to small and middle enterprises", he said.
