SSC: “Information and communications is one of the dynamically developing areas of the social and economic life”


During 11 months of 2012 48.2 billion manat of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) - the main qualitative index of socioeconomic progress - was produced in Azerbaijan, which is 12 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. 1.8 percent of added value was produced by communication services. This information was revealed by the State Statistical Committee (SSC).

According to the committee, during the reporting period production of GDP in the non-oil sector grew by 9.7 percent. In the oil sector, however, GPD production fell by 6.5 percent. In the processing industry production of computers and other electronic devices grew by 7.1 percent. It was emphasized in the information that information and communications is now one of the rapidly developing spheres of social and economic life of the Republic.

The total volume of services rendered by information and communication workers to the population, companies and organizations since the beginning of the year amounted to 1.3 billion manat, which is 16.8 percent more than in the same period of last year. 72.1 percent of services (923.2 million manat) were rendered to the population.

The monthly average salary of hired workers working in different social and economic spheres reached 390.2 manat, which is 9.0 percent more than in January-October of 2011. The monthly average salary of workers of the information and communication sphere constituted 620.3 manat.
