325.3 million manat were invested in the ICT sector over 2012


Bringing communication systems in the country to the level of the modern world’s standards and introduction of modern technologies were priority tasks carryout out by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (MCIT) over the reporting period. 110.5 million manat investments were made by MCIT’s organizations and units to this end. In all, 325.3 million manat were invested in the ICT sector, which makes 2.0 percent of the total volume of all investments placed in the economy of the Republic.

As a result of the execution of investment projects that were aimed at developing telecommunication sector, introducing new technologies, improving the quality and stability of telephone communication 45 new EATSs were put into operation, 21 ATSs were modernized, 26 ATS were expanded, 41 TV-radio transmitters were installed and 44 post offices were built, including 11 post offices built by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan.

As a result of these measures, the total circuit capacitance of the entire telephone network in the Republic grew by 28,480 numbers and totaled to 1,756,280 numbers. At the same time, modern DWDM transmission networks were built and put into operation in Absheron, Shamakha, Agsu, Goychay, Agdash, Ganja, Alat, Shirvan, Salyan, Hachigabul, Kurdamir, Uchar and Yevlakh regions. The number of telephone sets totaled to 1,475,353 pcs. in the reporting period.
