Minister Ali Abbasov meets with new president of “TeliaSonera” Group of Companies Per-Arne Blomquist


The minister of communications and information technologies Ali Abbasov received a foreign delegation led by Per-Arne Blomquist, who was recently appointed as the president of the “TeliaSonera” Group of Companies.

During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MCIT), A. Abbasov provided the foreign guests with information about activities implemented in the ICT sphere in Azerbaijan.

He said the MCIT will spare no efforts to achieve ICT-related goals outlined in the “Azerbaijan 2020: Look into the Future” Development Concept. The minister gave a high assessment to the activities implemented by TeliaSonera in Azerbaijan. He pointed out that the “Azercell Telekom LLC” company, which also belongs to the “TeliaSonera” Group of Companies has achieved significant success in the recent years and, in this way, contributed to some extent to the development of the country’s economy.

“TeliaSonera has brought a lot of innovations to Azerbaijan. Taking into account the growing need for mobile internet services, I think that Azercell, which is one of the main mobile operators in our Republic, should strengthen its activities in this direction. In future, the company should expand roaming services and improve the quality of all the services that it is rendering to the population.”

The president of “TeliaSonera” Group of Companies Per-Arne Blomquist, in his turn, spoke about the directions of future cooperation with Azerbaijan. He said that TeliaSonera plans to make investments and continue to bring new generation telecommunication technologies in Azerbaijan.

During the activity the newly appointed president of “TeliaSonera Eurasia” company Veysel Aral was introduced to the participants of the meeting. He also addressed the gathering, saying that he was pleased with the future cooperation with Azerbaijan because he was strongly attached to this country. In his turn, the minister said that the cooperation with TeliaSonera will be very beneficial for Azerbaijan.
