MCIT holds meeting with Austrian delegation


Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (MCIT) held a meeting with an Austrian delegation led by Andreas Reinhard, Deputy Federal Minister of Transport, Innovation and Technology of Austria. The delegation was composed of heads of companies representing various sectors of Austria.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Valizadeh noted that the friendly relations between the two countries are strengthening against the background of the dynamic development of the ICT sector.

Saying 2013 was declared the “Year of information communication technologies” in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister noted that the execution of Action Plan in this direction have already started, and several important decisions on ICT development were adopted, and some will be adopted in the near future.

In turn, noting the successful cooperation between the two countries, the Austrian guest said that the peak of this cooperation will be the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Austria in the near future. According to him, Austria is interested in building of E-government, training of personnel on E-government, e-health, e-notary, e-address and registry services in real estate sphere, e-security, communication and other spheres. Andreas Reinhard also spoke about bringing of new technologies to Azerbaijan.

Noting Azerbaijan and Austria have already implemented successful projects in different spheres, the guest expressed interest in construction of a plant in Azerbaijan meeting modern standards for production of cable. The plant will meet domestic demands of Azerbaijan and at the same time will import products to foreign countries.

Noting Azerbaijan aims at developing of competitive enterprises with export potential and innovative entrepreneurship, Elmir Velizadeh expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the said project and stressed the possibility of expanding cooperation with Austria in the areas that are suitable to the interests of Azerbaijan. Moreover, leaders of companies made presentations and joint discussions were held at the meeting.
