Nakhchivan transfers its telecommunications infrastructure into next-generation network


Telecommunications infrastructure of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is being transferred to next generation network (NGN), Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry told. According to the ministry, at present, contracts were signed with a telecommunications equipment provider to equip Nakhchivan city and several districts with NGN equipment. Work will be carried out in three phases. In the last phase all the old equipment will be decommissioned. According to Nakhchivan's Communications and IT Ministry, by late year work will be launched to transfer telecommunication nodes of the Sharur and Sadarak regions into NGN network.
Transfer into NGN network is one of the priorities, due to which operators are going to stimulate the growth of new services segment in the long-term perspective. Transfer of telephone networks into NGN technology will increase number capacity of the telephone network and provide IP-telephony services, broadband Internet and IP-TV along with traditional telecommunications services.
