Azerbaijan’s internet market has become oversaturated

Over the past year, the volume of incoming and outgoing traffic has grown by twice in Azerbaijan.

According to statistical figures provided by the country’s leading internet company “Delta Telecom”, during the last year, the volume of incoming traffic has grown from 35GB per second to 75 MB per second, and the volume of outgoing traffic has increased from 8 GB per second to 16 GB per second.

During the last few months, the average rate of the traffic incoming to the republic has not changed and remained at 60-65 GB per second, and the average rate of outgoing traffic stays at around 7-8 GB per second. In his interview to “ICTnews” online news service, the sales manager of Delta Telecom Rahid Alekberli said that this is a normal trend.

“In fact, statistical figures on incoming and outgoing traffic should be compared one or two times a year. The stabile situation with incoming and outgoing internet traffics, being observed today in Azerbaijan, can be explained by over-saturation of the market. Besides, statistical data might be influence by other factors such as the end of the year, different seasons of the year, holiday season and etc.”
