Google's PhotoScan app turns old photos into digital memories


Google has launched PhotoScan, a brand new application that enables users to scan old pictures that can thereafter be stored and retouched in Google Photos.
 
PhotoScan enables users to scan old photos in various formats, and also, where necessary, to restore them to their former glory. The app features retouching, and rotation functionalities, along with options to improve perspective and eliminate reflections. The idea is create high-quality digital copies that give a new life to old photos.
 
Along with this new application, Google is also launching an update to Photos with a newly improved automatic enhancement feature that enables users to effortlessly balance exposure and saturation to optimize image detail.
 
The latest version of Google Photos also includes 12 new filters that modify images by adding shadows, warming up colors, and adjusting saturation. There are also advanced retouching options (light, color, sharpness and style) that allow users to optimize the appearance all kinds of photos.
 
Google PhotoScan and Google Photos can be downloaded for free from Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS).
