Winners of Republican Olympiad in informatics among university students awarded


The winners of the Republican Olympiad in informatics among university students were awarded. It is to be noted that the Olympiad was co-organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Education and Institute of Information Technologies of National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS).

As we have reported earlier, team BEU Programmers of Baku Engineering University took the first place, team CtrlZ of Baku State University took the second place. Teams ADA U1 of ADA University and BHOS2 of Baku Higher Oil School took third and fourth places respectively.

The winners were awarded honorary certificates and diplomas of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, as well as valuable prizes from companies Azerfon and BestComp Group.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to increase the level of knowledge of students of higher educational institutions in the field of informatics, programming, to increase the growing interest in this field, as well as to attract the students who have become winners in this field to the international Olympiads.

The Olympiad is held in two stages. Before the start of the first stage, teams representing higher educational institutions of the republic are registered on the Olympiad’s website (www.olimpiada.az ) within  one month. Teams consisting of one teacher (as a leader) and three students (bachelors) who have been registered are entitled to participate in the first stage of the Olympiad. Four teams from each university are allowed to participate in the first stage of the Olympiad.

Only one team from each educational institution, which shows the highest score, qualifies to the final stage of the Olympiad.

This year 52 teams from 24 universities were registered on the website www.olimpiada.az to participate in the Olympiad.

Along with students studying in universities in the capital, this year students of higher educational institutions in regions, in particular, state universities of Ganja, Mingachevir, Sumgait, Azerbaijan Technological University, as well as Azerbaijan State Agrarian University showed special interest in participating in the Olympiad.

Over 200 students competed in this year’s Olympiad, of which 20 were girls.
16 teams of 16 higher educational institutions, including 4 regions took part in the final stage of the Olympiad and 4 teams that showed best results were announced winners.
